ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Mengüjekids (Divrigi). Sulayman I, circa AH 536-570 / AD 1142-1175. Fals (Bronze, 23 mm, 3.43 g), citing the Khaqanid ruler of Adharbayjan (Azerbaijan), Jamal al-Dunya wa al-Din Akhsatan I (circa AH 555-593 / AD 1160-1197), as overlord. Ornamental cross; in the angles, traces of ‘IC – XC / NI–KA’, abbreviation for ‘IHCOYC XPICTOC NIKA’ (‘Jesus Christ conquers’ in Greek). Rev. ‘Jamāl al-Dunyā / wa al-Dīn Akhsatan / al-malik Sulaymān / [ibn Isḥāq]’ (‘Jamal al-Dunya wa al-Din Akhsatan. King Sulayman son of Ishaq’ in Arabic). Album 1894. Extremely rare. Weak strike and with some earthen deposits, otherwise, very fine.
